Workers suspended from Lethbridge care home in mice scandal

Three workers have been suspended from the Lethbridge care home at the centre of a health scandal.

On Monday, Friends of Medicare claimed a woman living in the dementia unit of St. Therese Villa had been bitten on the face by mice.

Owners, Covenant Health, responded a day later saying the woman’s face wounds were not from mice, but from an unrelated viral infection.

Mark Wells, a spokesperson with Alberta Union of Provincial Employees, said three employees were suspended with pay.

He said the workers will remain off the job until an investigation can take place.
