Canadian Cancer Society gives guys 15 to 29 a little shock and awe

The Canadian Cancer Society is hoping a little ‘shock and awe’ will inspire young men to take better care of their health.

Their latest campaign called “Nutiquette” has hit the Internet and they’re hoping it will lead some to check themselves out below the belt.

It involves footage of a man checking out his testicles for any signs of cancer.

A man with a guitar follows him around signing “you should check your nuts often because who knows what it could happen when you start ignoring your balls. Follow steps one, two and three just to see if there’s any cancer growing down there.”

Spokesman Graham Harder tells 660News it’s a disease we all need to take seriously.

“It’s not exactly something you talk about around the water cooler or with friends at work,” he says. “It’s really important because it’s no joke, cancer affects us all and it doesn’t discriminate.”

According to their figures, 1,000 Canadian men will be diagnosed with cancer in 2013 alone.

“This is our way of just getting the word out and building awareness around this campaign,” he says. “Do your due diligence and make sure you have a good understanding about your health!”

Harder says guys between the ages of 15 and 29 are most at risk.
