Calgarians now must ‘butt-out’ near city playgrounds

Starting Thursday, forget about “lighting up” near playgrounds and outdoor spaces; those who do it will be a $100 fine.
City council voted Monday to expand the smoking ban.
It’s now illegal to smoke in or within five metres of outdoor pools, outdoor skating rinks, playgrounds, parks and sports fields.
Alderman Andre Chabot, who’s been trying to quite since getting hooked in middle school, brought forth the motion last November.
Calgary now joins a growing list of other cities like Grande Prairie, Edmonton and Toronto, where outdoor smoking bans have been put in place.
