NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Roundabout Theatre Company is considering a new Broadway revival of “Cabaret,” although the non-profit said Thursday no final decision has been made.
The last revival of “Cabaret,” also by Roundabout, ran for nearly six years before closing in January 2004.
“‘Cabaret’ is one of a number of productions we are considering for the 2013-2014 season,” said Todd Haimes, the Roundabout’s artistic director. “It will be very exciting if we are able to confirm ‘Cabaret’ as part of our subscription series.”
Set in Berlin, “Cabaret” centres on the world of the indulgent Kit Kat Klub on the brink of World War II.
It originally opened on Broadway in 1966 with songs by John Kander and Fred Ebb. This year, the film version starring Liza Minnelli turned 41.
