Calgary's office market taking off

Calgary’s office market is set to ramp up with a number of projects in the city’s downtown slated for construction.

While demand for space has been sluggish lately, officials say many companies are playing a wait-and-see game.

The Globe and Mail reports Calgary is still the tightest major market in Canada for office space, with its vacancy rate at 3.8 per cent.

Senior vice president of development for Cadillac Fairview, Niall Collins, says while some players like Imperial have moved out of downtown, other large energy firms are expanding.
