Body of Calgarian recovered from Crevasse in Banff National Park

A 32-year-old Calgary man is dead after falling into a crevasse in Banff National Park.

He fell about 35 metres into the crevasse after summitting Mount Hector on Sunday.

His friends descended into the crevasse but when he did not respond they called Parks Canada for help.

The victim’s body was pulled from the crevasse Sunday night but he was not flown out until Monday.

Parks Canada says the summit of Mount Hector is 3394 metres in elevation and the accident happened approximately 400 metres below the summit.
