Protesters interrupt Redford in Washington

Premier Alison Redford was interrupted by protesters while in Washington lobbying for the Keystone XL Pipeline project.

It happened at the Brookings Institution where the premier was pitching the virtues of the oilsands environmental record.

Redford’s assurances didn’t appear to soothe a group of anti-Keystone protesters who infiltrated her speech in the U.S. capital and disrupted the proceedings.

The premier shrugged off the disturbance, saying the opponents have valid concerns.

She later tweeted “Spirited discussions in Washington re: Alberta’s record on responsible oilsands development & #kxl. Facts matter – we’ll keep at it.”
