Kitchener, Ont. man faces murder charge after woman’s torso found in trash bin

WATERLOO, Ont. – A Kitchener man is facing a murder charge in the death of a 24-year-old woman whose torso was found in a garbage bin in the southwestern Ontario city.

Waterloo regional police spokesman Olaf Heinzel says a 37-year-old man is in police custody and is to appear in court to be charged with first-degree murder and committing an indignity to a dead human body.

Police say the man was arrested in Kitchener just before 4 a.m. this morning without incident.

Heinzel says the name of the accused will not be released until he appears in court today or Friday.

A torso later identified as the remains of Kelsey Louise Felker was found in a trash bin last Saturday in Kitchener.

Heinzel says police are still searching for other body parts.

“We’re still moving forward collecting evidence, collecting information, and attempting to identify where other remains may be located,” he said.

“The search is still on.”

Police say no other arrests are anticipated but the investigation continues.
