Calgary man dies in Belize

A criminal investigation has been launched into the death of a Calgary man found lying unresponsive in a police cell over the weekend.
35 year old Jeffrey Donald Furgala was arrested Saturday in San Ignacio apparently heavily intoxicated.
Then, early Sunday morning, other inmates heard a loud sound and what sounded like snoring coming from his cell.
He was found lying face up and unconscious with a bloody nose and was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
He was scheduled to undergo surgery by died that night.
Officials in Belize now say they have launched a criminal and internal investigation in to the Calgary man’s death.
