Public safety minister returns fire following NDP MP Martin’s Twitter tirade

OTTAWA – Public Safety Minister Vic Toews is calling a New Democrat MP’s Twitter tirade against him disgraceful and irresponsible.

Toews is also suggesting Pat Martin has never asked for federal funding in his riding and that he’s proving an embarrassment to his party.

The war of words between the two Manitobans began Wednesday night when Martin tweeted a series of abusive messages about Toews and the Conservatives.

He has since apologized, and says he’s given up his Twitter account.

Martin referred to the Conservatives as cheaters and bad people, slamming them for failing to invite him to an announcement in his Winnipeg riding.

Toews says not even Martin’s own party wants him at events, since the housing announcement earlier this week was done jointly with Manitoba’s NDP government.
