Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson returns for another season

OTTAWA – Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson is returning for another season.

It will be the 17th campaign for the 39-year-old Swede, who has spent his entire career in Ottawa.

Alfredsson had hinted at the end of last season he might retire.

He had 27 goals and 32 assists in 75 games last season.

He has been Ottawa’s captain since 1999 and is the franchise leader in games played (1,131), goals (416), assists (666) and points (1,082).

He is also a six-time all-star, as well as a Calder Trophy winner in 1996.

Alfredsson was Ottawa’s second sixth-round selection in the 1994 draft.
