Stampede dining for Calgary’s elite

Where do the who’s who of the Stampede take their meals?

There’s an exclusive restaurant in the third floor of the Grandstand, Ranahans, and it’s somewhat of a corporate clubhouse open only during the 10 days of Stampede.

The Stampede’s food and seating manager, Mike Friesen, tells The Globe and Mail many people have heard of Ranahans but few get to enjoy it.

The restaurant, which has opened during each Stampede since 2001, is usually reserved by oil companies, banks and law firms by late spring.

A table for four costs nearly $8,000 to reserve for five days.
