Tom Perlmutter appointed another term at National Film Board of Canada

GATINEAU, Que. – Tom Perlmutter has signed on for another term as government film commissioner and chairperson of the National Film Board of Canada.

Heritage Minister James Moore announced the five-year appointment on Tuesday, citing Perlmutter’s “wealth of experience and leadership.”

“His dedication to the film industry and his commitment to the NFB’s digitization initiative will continue to be highly valuable to the organization,” Moore said in a statement.

A former filmmaker himself, Perlmutter first took the helm of the NFB in 2007 after working as the organization’s director general of English Program and producing documentaries and new media productions.

He’s also been director of creative development at CineNova Productions, director of documentaries at Barna-Alper Productions, and executive director of alliance for Children and Television.
