Toronto’s Mayor Rob Ford set to skip Pride Parade again for family cottage trip

TORONTO – Toronto Mayor Rob Ford will be skipping the city’s Pride Parade for a second year in a row.

The mayor says he won’t be able to attend the gay community’s annual celebration because he will be at his family’s cottage for the Canada Day holiday weekend.

It’s the same reason he gave for missing last year’s parade — a controversial move that led some to accuse him of homophobia.

The city’s past three mayors have all taken part in the parade.

Ford says depending on his schedule, he may stop by some other Pride Week events.
