No wind turbine for a Calgary school

A proposed wind turbine at Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School has been scrapped by the Calgary Board of Education.

CBE spokesman Frank Coppinger tells 660News the decision was made after a public meeting last week.

“We have had mixed feedback, some positive but a large number of quite negative responses from community members in Canyon Meadows,” Coppinger says.

The CBE unveiled the 42.7 meter high machine last week and Coppinger adds it could pay for itself in 20 years and would provide students an opportunity to learn about renewable resources.

Coppinger also says they will review other sites in the future.
