“GirlPower” aims to help girls deal with bullying

Mean girls grow up to become mean women, but if you can educate them when they’re younger, the patterns can be stopped.

This is the idea behind GirlPower – a program that teaches tweens how to stand up to bullies, form healthy friendships and avoid toxic ones.

Program creator Dana Kerford tells 660News, she teaches workshops across the province, but her program is available for internet download to schools and organizations across North America.

Kerford saw a need for such a program when she noticed tensions between young girls, both as a teacher and her own school girl experience.

Bullying Prevention Month continues in both Canada and the U.S.
