TORONTO, Ont. – With the provincial election on our doorstep, advance polls suggest an increase in voter turnout.
According to Elections Ontario, 624,958 people have already voted.
That number is around 173,000 more than the advance poll numbers ahead of the last provincial election in 2007.
At 52.6 per cent, the 2007 voter turnout was the lowest in the province’s history.
Elections Ontario tried to make it easier for people to cast their ballots this time around, including 10 days of advance polls and a special mail ballot.
Eligible voters can still make their mark before Thursday at their local returning office.
On election day, there will be more than 24,000 polls in over 7,700 voting locations across Ontario.
