Man robbed, thought he was buying Canucks tickets

COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) – Here’s another warning about buying anything online.  One Vancouver Canucks fan who thought he was getting two tickets to Game 7 ended up getting robbed.

The fan found the $4,400 tickets on Craigslist and agreed to meet the person selling them at a parking lot in Coquitlam this afternoon.

RCMP Constable Kristina Biro says that was a bad move.  The seller got into the man’s car and pulled out a weapon, although police won’t say what kind was used.

Police used a helicopter to look for the suspect but they didn’t catch him.  No one was hurt.

Pricey tickets for Game 7

If you want to go to Game 7, you can for a very hefty price.  There are still some tickets left, but you have to get ready to pay up.  The most expensive tickets sold for $8,000 to $10,000, a piece.

Kingsley Bailey with Vancouver Ticket says this Canucks run to the Cup has been the priciest tickets he has ever seen, surpassing the Olympics.

“We still have some pairs of tickets in the $1,500 range and we definitely have some multiples in the $1,900 to $2,100 range, but after that it starts to get pretty sketchy.”

He explains what kind of people are dishing up that kind of money to go to the game.  “A lot of former season ticket holders that no longer have season tickets who say, ‘You know what?  This is what it’s all about, I’ve had these season tickets for so long, I gave them up and now I want to be in the building.”

Bailey is getting calls from the US where fans are desperate to get into Rogers Arena.  As for his prediction, he says Canucks all the way.
