Ignatieff continues ground war in southern Ontario, says battle ain’t over yet

GUELPH, Ont. – Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff continued his ground war in southern Ontario today, confronted by daunting polls and a rejection by the area’s largest newspaper.

But he remained upbeat, saying the battle isn’t over yet.

The Toronto Star’s endorsement of the New Democrats comes as polls show that party in second place in much of Canada.

But Ignatieff says voters don’t take their cues from the polls or the press, and neither measure the passion of the Liberal base.

He said getting that vote out on Monday is crucial to the party.

Ignatieff kicked off the drive with an appearance at a Guelph, Ont., farmers’ market.

The riding is held by a Liberal and several market goers assured Ignatieff that he has their support.
