Royal wedding prep ramps up

Over 11,000 metal crowd barriers are expected to line the royal wedding route Friday, while security measures are ramping up as the nuptials gets closer.

A military dress rehearsal took place early Wednesday while most people were still asleep in London.

Roughly 1,000 members of the army, navy and air force, some of whom were colleagues of Prince William, participated in the pre-dawn practice run from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey and back.

A large number of police officers will be involved in the wedding ceremony and preparations checking for explosives, as thousands and thousands of people are expected to line the wedding route.

Some die hard fans have already set up tents outside Westminster Abbey, including a woman from Alberta who has secured her spot for the ceremony.

Westminster Abbey will be closed to visitors from Wednesday to Thursday in preparation for the wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton.
