Lions react to star player’s arrest

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The BC Lions have released a short release regarding the reported arrest in California of Lions’ special teams star Yonus Davis in California.

General Manager and head coach Wally Buono  issued the following statement: “We are aware of an incident that involves Yonus and we will continue to gather additional information. He remains part of our football club while the investigation process takes its course and we will not comment further at this time.”

Davis has been detained in California by Drug Enforcement Administration authorities after being caught with 27 kilograms of ecstasy pills. Twenty-six-year-old Davis was the West Division finalist for the CFL’s outstanding special teams player in 2010.  There are reports that the former San Jose State star was arrested almost two weeks ago, but that the Lions only recently learned of his detainment.

The BC Lions Football Club has been made aware that Yonus Davis has recently been detained in the state of California.
