Local gas prices up to $1.28/litre

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Blame it on Gadhafi; blame it on whoever. The brutal reality for drivers in Metro Vancouver is the climbing price of gasoline.

Checking in with local drivers filling up at over $1.28/litre this morning, we met some who just grin and bear it. “It really sucks,” one man tells us. “I was hoping it would drop, I was waiting all week, and putting it off. I didn’t have a choice [so I had to fill up today]”

“It’s a fact of life, you can’t change it. But it pisses you off at the same time,” he adds.

Others are changing their ways. “A couple of co-workers and I, we’ve all started carpooling,” says one woman. “These prices are unbelievable.”

“We’re expensive out here, but you look at the prices back in Ontario, and it may not be much of a difference — like, five or six cents — but still, [that] adds up,” she tells us.

As household budgets feel the squeeze of pump prices that are expected to keep climbing, the man behind gasbuddy.com tells CTV News Channel they’re currently logging about 12 times the visitors to their site, as the search for the best deal on gas revs up.
