Golden Globe winner Paul Giamatti didn’t make the Oscar cut this morning for his starring turn in “Barney’s Version,” but the Montreal-shot film did get a nod for best makeup.
As Barney Panofsky, Giamatti needed to age several decades throughout the course of the film, which is based on the beloved novel by Mordecai Richler.
Montreal-based Adrien Morot received the nomination in the makeup category.
Morot is up against makeup specialists from two other films: “The Way Back” and “The Wolfman.”
According to his website, Morot’s company has worked on over 90 feature films.
“The King’s Speech” received a leading 12 nominations, including best picture. The Oscars will be handed out Feb. 27.
