Rick Rypien has been suspended indefinitely

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver Canucks forward Rick Rypien has been suspended indefinitely for grabbing a fan on Tuesday night.

The incident happened while Rypien was on the way to the visiting dressing room in Minnesota after being assessed a double minor for roughing, and a 10-minute misconduct. On his way down the tunnel, Rypien pushed a Wild fan who was applauding at the railing. He was quickly pulled away by teammate Manny Malhotra and the fan was removed from the area.

Rypien will have a hearing with NHL disciplinarian Colin Campbell before the length of his suspension will be determined. The Canucks visit Chicago tonight.

It’s been a busy start to the regular season for Campbell. He’s handed out five suspensions, including the one to Rypien, and issued four fines in the past 10 days.
