VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s only the middle of October and we’re already getting warnings about winter driving conditions in the southern interior after parts of the Coquihalla Highway saw some snow overnight.
Meteorologist Russ Lacate says it’ll be cool this weekend, but the snow should stay away. “It was a little more than a dusting of snow over some of the high mountain passes last night, and there are no more flurries in the forecast for the southern interior, but it kind of gives you a good idea of how chilly this first cold snap of the season is going to be. Venture into the mountains this weekend, and you can expect clear nights and frosty mornings.”
With the mercury hitting the freezing mark, there’s a risk of black ice on the roads. It’s a good reminder to check the tread on your tires if you’re heading to the interior.
