Author predicts solar power will reduce dependency on oilsands

There is a new book out about the oilsands.

The author of ‘Black Bonanza:  Canada’s oilsands and the race to secure North America’s energy future,’ says while the future for the massive development up north is bright, solar power is going to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels within the next 20 years.

He also says the environmental battle against the sands is starting to subside.

Over the past few years, environmental groups have made not only alot of noise about the oilsands but money as well.

Author Alastair Sweeny says it’s hard to get mad at what he calls ‘global warming evangelists.’

“They find that demonizing the sands is good business.   That’s their business, I suppose, but I think it’s not working anymore.  People aren’t buying it,” he says.

Sweeny says while there is enough oil in the oilsands to keep North American cars on the road burning gas for the next 300 years, advancements in solar power technology will reduce our dependency on fossil fuels within the next two decades.
