Province helps Alberta’s struggling film industry

Together, they’re trying to brainstorm new ways to reinvent the industry amid the lingering recession, tough competition for locations, and a strong Canadian dollar.
Last year, film and TV productions brought in more than $75 million in our city alone.
Alberta Culture Minister, Lindsay Blackett, says tax incentives aren’t the only solution; he’ll meet with producers, guilds, and unions to find ways to invigorate the industry.
Blackett tells CTV News with all the new technologies out there, it still makes sense for producers to film here.
Alberta is known for its amazing locations and skilled crews, and has been the locale for well known films such as Brokeback Mountain and Unforgiven.
