Plane crashes into California neighbourhood

Three people are reported dead after a plane crash in Northern California.

Authorities say a small twin-engine Cessna crashed into a transmission tower shortly after taking off, exploding and crashing into an neighbourhood in east Palo Alto, near San Francisco.

Reports indicate the the plane exploded on impact, setting two houses on fire.

One of the buildings set ablaze is used as a daycare.

Fortunately, no children were injured.

All three people on board the plane were killed, but there are no reports of casualties on the ground.

The plane took off in thick fog, and crashed only a short distance from the Palo Alto airport.
