Charges pending against man who left tot in car

No charges have been laid after a toddler was left in a vehicle parked at a northeast casino parking lot Monday evening.

Calgary police estimate the little girl was alone for about 20 minutes.  A passerby notified security who called police around 7:30 p.m. but the child’s caregiver came out just before crews were about to free the girl from the car.

Alberta’s Minister for Children and Youth Services, Yvonne Fritz says her staff goes into action for cases like these. She says her department is involved with caring for the child and with offering the supports and service that parents or caregivers may need. “We’re there to help them through our Child-At-Risk Response Team.”

Police are still deciding if charges will be laid against the man.
