Calgary police look to go high-tech in crash investigations

A new device is touted as being able to clear a crash in minutes, rather than hours.

At a cost of less than $200-thousand, the Scanstation C-10 will scan a crash scene and be able to replicate it so police can do more thorough investigation, without tying up traffic.

It’s also been used in the U.S. for other crimes, including murders and thefts.

The device costs $115-thousand plus another $15-thousand for software and training.

Police spokesperson Kevin Brookwell tells The Calgary Sun they are very interested in this technology and the force sees a lot of value in the device.
