Watch Live: CityNews at Six Calgary

Sirens for Life

The eighth annual Sirens for Life competition kicked off in Calgary Monday morning.

The friendly competition pits Calgary police, fire and EMS against Edmonton emergency crews to see which city can bring in the most blood donors in the month January.

Corner Tap with Canadian Blood Services tells 660News this is more than just bragging rights for the winning city.

The goal is for Canadian Blood Services to collect 5,800 units of blood in the Calgary area, enough to help more than 17,000 people.

Our city won the challenge last year.
