Fire crews battle blaze at southeast recycling plant

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Fire crews were called in Tuesday night to deal with a blaze outside a recycling plant in the city’s southeast.

The fire reported just after 8:30 p.m. to a facility near Quarry Park Blvd and 24th Street.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a large pile of recycling materials engulfed just east of the main building.

Battalion Chief Bruce Barrs says four trucks along with fourteen personnel were on scene at one point battling the blaze which has since been contained.

The cause is still unknown.
