Mexico Learjet lands in flames; no injuries reported

MEXICO CITY — Authorities in central Mexico say a Learjet air ambulance made a dramatic emergency landing and skidded off the runway.

The International Airport of Toluca said no one was injured in the incident.

The airport said the Learjet 35 was carrying seven passengers and two crew members when it took off Thursday from Toluca, which lies about 63 kilometres (39 miles) west of Mexico City. It quickly asked to land.

Video footage showed what appeared to be flames shooting from the plane’s belly, suggesting a possible problem with its landing gear.

The airport later said the runway was reopened.
